Menopause in the workplace – why it matters!

 

    • 13 million peri- to post-menopausal at any time
    • 33 million people will go through menopause at some point in their lives
    • Women over the age of 50 are the fastest growing group in the UK workforce
    • As the average age of the menopause is 51, symptoms can often occur at the peak of a woman’s career
    • Currently around 10% of women aged 45-55 have left their jobs due to the menopause

Menopause is now a quasi protected characteristic under the Equality Act 2010. The Government Equalities Report on Menopause highlights the need for employers to put in place training, processes and information so all colleagues have a clear understanding of menopause. Whether it’s a policy or guidance document – it’s best if it’s written down well publicised and training delivered for all staff.

What employers can do is what you’d expect of any employer who wants to attract and retain a diverse and inclusive workforce….create a friendly environment to talk about menopause openly and without embarrassment. It is a natural phase in every woman’s life that needs to be normalised.  I facilitate these conversations enabling you to confidently manage menopause in the workplace.

Corporate:-  I help and advise organisations – not just about the menopause but importantly on how best to support their workforce through this transition – that’s mutually beneficial for both parties.

I provide direction on what a meno-friendly workplace /organisational culture looks like and the type of guidance a company could/ should offer, including practical hands on information for HRs and line managers.

And/or

I am contracted by a business as a remote well-being provider to support the workforce – perhaps as a menopause advocate/ ambassador, women’s wellness advisor etc

I am typically brought into an organsiation to provide both corporate guidance alongside holistic training for staff who may and/or may not experience the menopause themselves
